Virtual Walk to Prevent Bullying

Our virtual walkathon is a community event to raise awareness and funds to support bullying prevention and education programs. Participants can walk from anywhere in the world while supporting our mission to provide free and low-cost bullying education to schools and youth globally.

We’re excited to walk together (virtually!) to raise awareness and support for bullying prevention. Thank you for participating in this important cause!

The virtual walkathon is on October 19, 2024. You can participate by walking at any time throughout the day.

How do I participate in the walkathon?

It’s easy! Sign up on our website and share that you’re participating to find pledges/donors. On the day of the event, head outside or hop on a treadmill and start walking. Track your distance and share your progress with us on social media using our official hashtag #WalktoPreventBullying. Afterwards, tell your sponsors it’s time to donate!

Do I need to walk a certain distance?

No, you can walk as much or as little as you’d like. The goal is to raise funds and awareness, so whether you walk a mile or ten, it all makes a difference.

Is there a registration fee?

No, participation in the virtual walkathon is free. However, we encourage all participants to help raise funds through pledges and donations to support our cause and consider donating themselves.

Can I participate with a group?

Yes! We encourage families, friends, and coworkers to form teams and walk together—virtually or in person. You can walk in your neighborhood, local park, or any safe location. Just be sure to share your group’s experience with us online!

Can parents, teachers, and administrators organize a larger event?

Absolutely! We love seeing schools and classrooms participate as a team. Parents, teachers, and administrators can organize school-wide or class-wide events by coordinating a walk on school grounds or in a nearby park.

This is a fantastic opportunity to teach children about the importance of charity involvement and giving back to their community. You can also incorporate bullying awareness lessons into the event which help children understand why it’s important to stand up against bullying and support those who need it.

To make the event educational, teachers and administrators can:

  • Discuss the meaning of charity: Explain how participating in the walkathon helps raise money for bullying prevention programs that support children globally.
  • Encourage classroom fundraising: Work with students to set up a class goal for donations and show them the impact they can have.
  • Integrate bullying prevention lessons: Teachers can lead discussions or activities on bullying, empathy, and kindness which reinforces the event’s purpose. We have many bully prevention resources you can access for free or low-cost.
  • Celebrate participation: Host a small celebration after the walkathon to thank the children for their efforts and emphasize the positive change they’ve contributed to.

How do I raise funds for the walkathon?

When you register for the walkathon, you’ll get access to a personal fundraising page that you can share with friends, family, and your network. You can set a personal goal to encourage donations. Donors can pledge based on each mile/kilometre you walk or a set donation. For example, if someone pledges $10/mile and you walk 10 miles then they’ll donate $100. They will donate directly to your personal fundraising page.

How can I promote the walkathon?

An event like this takes promotion from everyone involved. Before the event, talk with your friends, family, and coworkers. Share online and in-person. Organize an event. Reach out to local news, schools, community groups, and social media personalities.

On October 19, you can share your walkathon experience by posting photos, videos, or distance updates on social media. Be sure to tag us and use our official event hashtag #WalktoPreventBullying so we can follow along and cheer you on!

Where does the money raised go?

All funds raised will support our bullying prevention and education programs. Your support helps us continue to offer free and low-cost resources to schools and communities around the world which ensures children can benefit from bullying education.

Can I walk on a different day if I can’t make it on October 19?

While we’d love for everyone to participate on the same day, we understand if your schedule doesn’t allow it. Feel free to complete your walk on a different day (ideally within the week) and share your progress with us online.

Will I get anything for participating?

Yes! All participants will receive two months of our Bullying Weekly newsletter for free and 50% off our premier online bully prevention course.

What should I do if I have questions or need help?
